    Description

    The large cents during 1858–1920 were significantly larger than modern one-cent coins and even slightly larger than the modern 25¢ piece.
    After Queen Victoria passed away in 1901 Edward VII succeeded to the throne and was crowned on August 9, 1902. G.W. DeSaulles of the Royal Mint designed a completely new obverse, shows King Edward VII wearing the Imperial State Crown.
