1984 Ford Thunderbird

Description

I am offering for sale this one owner Fila Edition Ford Thunderbird.  The car has been garaged since new and it shows.  The exterior boasts beautiful original white paint that is smooth to the touch and has a brilliant like-new shine.  The original red/blue Fila pinstripes are also in great condition.  All factory-installed Fila badges are intact on the exterior and interior as they were on the 2500 Fila edition Thunderbirds in 1984.  There are a couple of minor imperfections on the gray lower paint as seen in pictures but there is no rot.  There is one small area of surface rust (about 1 inch by 1/4 inch) just below the back window but does not impact the winder seal and is easily overlooked. There is some light surface rust on the undercarriage but it is superficial and only cosmetic in nature.  The interior is in very good condition as well.  The Recaro style seats are factory Fila Edition-specific and include the Fila "F" embossed on the seat backs.  The cloth insert/centers and grey leather bolsters and head rests have no tears and only show only minor cracking due to usage/age.  The leather is supple and soft.  The door panels are also in very good condition showing no significant flaws.  The headliner is clean with no rips.  The dash presents very well yet has some fade but contains no cracks.  All gauges and power equipment (interior/exterior lights, antenna, windows, locks, mirrors, seats, trunk release, gas door release) work as they should as does the A/C and heat.  The engine compartment is clean, original, and tidy.  No teenager messed with this motor with "upgrades".  The 5.0L motor starts the first time every time and pulls very strong.  The AOD trans shifts through all gears smoothly without any hard shifts.  The car tracks straight, handles great and enjoys low and highway speeds of 75 MPH with no issue.  The cruise control also works as it should making this a great go-anywhere cruiser.  The power brakes are slightly sensitive but easy to get used to after just a short drive.  The Fila-specific white wheels are in excellent condition and the BFG Radial T/As look fantastic with almost full tread remaining.  The trunk is clean and contains the original donut spare, spare tire cover, and jack, which do not appear to have ever been used.  Original owner's manual included in sale.  Service records from the original owner are also available.
Although this car isn't perfect, it is an excellent one-owner and rare collectible that anyone would be proud to drive.  It wouldn't take much to address the few minor issues and take it to the next show stopping level.  It can easily be driven as is to preserve its wonderful originality.  It has a Clean and Clear NJ title but currently in temp controlled storage in Lansdale, PA 19446.  Clean Carfax.  Bid in confidence BUT please ask all questions before bidding.  In person inspection prior to the end of the auction can be arranged by appointment.  I will assist with transport arrangements on my end (will be there to ensure proper loading, etc) but the final arrangements and cost are the responsibilities of the buyer.
