    This is a vintage HAND HELD MICROWAVE LEAKAGE MONITOR!
    Made of plastic, it has a Needle Gauge to determine if there is leakage of the radiation from a microwave.
    It shows "SAFETY" numbers as a green bar from 0 to 1 and "CAUTION" numbers with a red bar from 1 to 2.7.
    Microwaves became a staple in most homes sometime during the 1970s and it appears that radiation leakage was a concern.  The 1990 date is an estimate based on internet research, it is not marked with a date.
