It allows this saddle to dynamically and automatically fit to the horse's moving scapula and withers, while the rear part of the tree stabilizes and distributes weight the same way a typical tree would.  It also features a generous cutback, and a number of different billet attachment options - current billets are quite far apart.  In addition, it has two stirrup bars, one further forward in case you'd like to shorten your stirrups for jumping or hacking, and one further back to perfectly align your shoulder, hip and heel for dressage.  It's a wonderful saddle for people looking to fit multiple horses.  I am only selling it because its panels are just slightly too long for my short backed mare.  It is a 17" seat, but the seat is fairly shallow and feels larger when ridden.  The flaps are 18" from the rear stirrup bar.  The channel at the cantle is about 2.5 inches.  The tree width is variable, but it has fit both a thoroughbred-like young horse and our 18hh warmblood, so short of needing a hoop tree it should fit virtually any horse.  Like-new condition.
