    Description

Presented is a superb quality Victorian gold filled fob, set with a carved chalcedony seal. This piece dates to the 1830s-1880s, and is of English or American make. The crest is carved in milky chalcedony (a type of agate), showing a demi-wolf rampant above a shield bearing three six-pointed stars and a wolf rampant entire. This crest is associated with the Wilson name. The gold fob itself is beautifully carved with scrolled foliate designs, very detailed and textured.
The fob is in great condition. The carved crest is very detailed and crisp, and the stone has no chips, no cracks, and no breaks. The gold plating of the fob is in great shape, with no wearthrough at the high points and very crisp designs and texturing.
The head of the fob is about 1 1/8 by 7/8 of an inch. The fob measures about 1 1/2 inches long.
    The fob weighs 25.3 grams.
