    Description

Civil Defense Government Surplus Survival Supplies
One Office of Civil Defense Drinking Water drum produced by Phoenix Steel Container Company in 1963.
NOS - 17 1/2 gallon metal drum for storing drinking water and can also be reused as a commode.
Inside the metal drum is one commode seat and one package of plastic gloves. These two items did not originally come with the water drum but are included with this listing.
Polyethylene liners were used in the steel water drums so they could hold water, then later to be used as a commode.  The steel drums themselves weren't intended to be waterproof.
    The polyethylene drum l
iners that were used inside the drum to hold water/or waste came in separate boxes of 20 double-bag liners, an instruction sheet, and a bag of tie wires.  These items were usually packaged in flat boxes sent with supplies for a fallout shelter.  These items are not included and only mentioned for reference.
