Of course it's no longer in calibration not that it's going to be used for a survey anyway. This is a great "Man Cave " item. If it's only used for show and tell the batteries will last for years. Listings for others like it will be coming. The cost of 1B85 tubes has gone through the roof so substitutions with Ludlum and Victoreen GM tubes will be made in the future.

TURN IT ON AND IT'S READY TO GO!  IT'S NO MUSEUM PIECE BUT IT WORKS!
No modifications to the circuitry were made other than that necessary to restore it to operating condition, so it is still a vacuum tube unit.  The Corotron regulator voltage was low at 840V and an NE-2 was wired in series to bring it up to 900V.  One of the D cell holders was damaged by corrosion and is unnecessary seeing that current D cells have over 8X capacity of the old carbon/zinc ones.
The original 1B85 tube was dead and replaced, the probe cable is not as flexible after 60+ years but there are no cracks in the rubber.  The orange thingy light in 1 photo is a Neon 'count' indicator.
The original B battery has been replaced with ten 9 volt 'block' batteries which are good for 200 hours The 15 Volt C cell has been replaced with 4 CR2032 coin cells that will last for decades and the 1.5 volt D cell remains the same being good for over 100 hours.  All those types are available dirt cheap on eBay.
The only caveats are that the case shows wear and a few dents from being 60+ years old, which were likely less from use than being knocked about it being in the way.  There is minor rust inside the case.
All my listings specifically show a 5 day shipping period, I'm 77 so expect up to 5 BUSINESS days before a package is taken to the Post Office.  Because of mail theft street side Drop boxes are not an option, also the slot is now only 12"X5/8" and many orders won't fit.  Anything larger now has to be taken to the Post Office.
All shipping labels are created using the eBay service and tracking information shows up on the buyers "Orders" page immediately.  Trips to the USPS and FedEx are made ONCE A WEEK ONLY!
